Vědecké zájmy
- studium autotrofního fytoplanktonu, jako je např. Cyanobium, Synechococcus, Cyanodictyon, Aphanothece a Aphanocapsa (ekologie, kultivace a izolace, ekofyziologické studie, fylogenetická charakteristika a odlišnosti)
- izolace a kultivace sladkovodních bakterií a sinic
- mikrobiální smyčka; interakce sinic či bakterií s prvoky a zooplanktonem
- fylogenetické studie bakterií ze skupiny Betaproteobakteria (Polynucleobacter a Limnohabitans)
Metody výzkumu
Kombinujeme terénní (pokusy s mezokosmy v dialyzačních sáčcích) a laboratorní (pokusy s gradienty světla/tepla/živin, pokusy se žraním prvoků a zooplanktonu, pokusy s kompeticí mikroorganismů) přístupy ke studiu ekologie a fylogenetického složení bakterioplanktonu a pikoplanktonu za použití klasických mikrobiologických metod (izolace a kultivace mikroorganismů) spolu s moderními molekulárnickými metodami (jako je kvantitativní PCR, sekvenace a analýza genomu), epifluorescenční mikroskopií a průtokovou cytometrií.
